This is a Beautiful Basket from a Native American Indian, of the Papago, Tohono O'odham Nation.
It was handmade by Regina Francisca of the Ak-Chin Papago’s of the Tohono O'odham Indian Nation, circa 1930’s. This beautiful weaved basket measures 8 inches x 2.5 inches.
The basket was handcrafted from white Yucca stalks and Beargrass that were harvested by the artisan, and grows in the Southwest desert of the Arizona.
The Papago Indian Reservation where this basket was made, is located just south of Tucson, Arizona. The Papago tribe is called Tohono O'odham, which means People of the Desert. The Papago are known for their beautiful basket weaving. Many of their baskets are featured in the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona.
